Our verdict

Room to settle in.

We recommend the Dagger OSMO 2P for two-person trips that put camp comfort near the top of the list. Two doors, two vestibules, and a rectangular floor make a convincing case for sharing this shelter. Choose a lighter design if the lowest possible pack weight is your priority.

The case for a livable backpacking tent

A good shared tent does more than fit two sleeping bags on paper. You need somewhere to enter without disturbing your partner, keep wet footwear away from bedding, and sit while the weather passes. The Dagger answers those practical questions with two doors, separate vestibules, and an interior shaped for two people. We see it as a strong match for couples and friends who expect to enjoy camp, not simply sleep and leave.

Where OSMO fits into the decision

NEMO uses its OSMO fabric on the floor and fly. The brand describes it as a fabric designed to reduce stretching when wet. That is a useful design intention for a double-wall shelter, but it is separate from a measured result from our own wet-weather testing. Our recommendation rests on the complete layout and published construction, rather than an invented storm story.

Which trips make sense?

Choose the Dagger for three-season backpacking, weekends with a partner, and trips where you want one shelter to handle both the trail and an occasional car-camping stop. A dedicated car-camping tent gives you more standing room. A minimalist solo or ultralight shelter can reduce carried weight. The Dagger occupies the appealing middle ground for people who share the load and want more space at the end of the day.

Why we like it.

Space that has a purpose

The rectangular 88 × 50-inch floor gives both sleepers a full-length place to sleep. A 43-inch peak height adds useful room for changing layers and organizing the small things that otherwise disappear in camp.

Two people, two entrances

Separate doors and vestibules mean each person has a way in and a place to keep boots and a pack outside the sleeping area. For shared trips, we would put that everyday convenience ahead of a tiny weight saving.

A considered storage system

NEMO includes a Landing Zone storage tub, Nightlight Pockets, and a Divvy Cube stuff sack. These details make the Dagger appealing as a complete shelter system rather than a bare minimum roof.

A few things to consider.

Comfort has a carrying cost

The 3 lb 15 oz packed weight includes the accessories. Use that figure when planning your pack, rather than treating the lower minimum weight as the weight of everything in the bag.

Check the sleep setup

A 50-inch floor is worth checking against the actual widths of your two pads. Two wide pads can use the full width, leaving less room beside them.

A few good questions.

Is the Dagger OSMO 2P a freestanding tent?

NEMO lists the Dagger OSMO as a freestanding backpacking tent. Stake and tension the fly and vestibules as directed for a complete setup.

What is the difference between packed and minimum weight?

NEMO lists a 3 lb 5 oz minimum weight and a 3 lb 15 oz packed weight for this two-person version. Packed weight includes the accessories and is the more useful starting point for packing.

Is this the two-person or three-person Dagger?

This review covers the two-person Dagger OSMO. The three-person version has different dimensions and weights. Check the capacity selector before ordering.
